East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court traffic division page

This page covers payment options, court dates, and record access for traffic cases from across East Baton Rouge Parish including the St. George area.

St. George residents deal with the same courts and clerks as everyone else in the parish. There is no separate office or building for St. George cases. That may change in the future as the new city builds out its government, but for now, it all goes through the parish system.

Paying Traffic Tickets Online

Online payment is available for St. George area traffic tickets if your court date has not passed. The court says: "If your court date has not passed, and your court date is more than 48 hours away, you can now pay your fine online." That 48-hour cutoff is important. If your court date is tomorrow, you cannot pay online. You must go in person.

The online payment system is through the EBR Clerk of Court website at ebrclerk.com. You need your citation number to look up the case. The site accepts credit and debit cards. A convenience fee may apply.

If your court date has already passed, online payment is not an option. You need to contact the court directly. A warrant may have been issued. Call (225) 389-4761 to check your case status and find out what steps to take next.

St. George Does Not Have Its Own Court

This is worth repeating because it confuses people. St. George became a city in 2019 after a long legal fight over incorporation. But becoming a city does not mean the city has its own courts right away. Setting up a municipal court takes time, funding, and state approval.

Right now, all traffic enforcement in St. George comes from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and Louisiana State Police. There is no St. George city police force yet. That means all tickets go through the parish system, not a city court.

If and when St. George creates its own court, the process for handling traffic tickets will change. Until then, follow the same steps as anyone else in East Baton Rouge Parish. Check the parish page for the most current info on how things work.
