Calcasieu Parish Traffic Court System

The Traffic Section at the Calcasieu Parish DA's office works closely with the clerk to manage traffic cases. According to the DA's office: "The Traffic Section receives all traffic citations issued by the Louisiana State Police, McNeese University Police, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Sulphur Police Department." If your citation came from any of these agencies, your case is in the 14th JDC system.

There are separate courts for different areas of the parish. Ward 4 Court (Sulphur City Court) handles citations issued in Sulphur. Ward 3 Court (Lake Charles City Court) handles Lake Charles citations. For rural areas and unincorporated Calcasieu Parish, the 14th JDC handles the case. If you are not sure which court has your case, call the DA's Traffic Section or the clerk's office and give them your citation number.

One strong warning from the DA's office: "Should you miss your traffic trial date, a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest. In addition, your driver's license will be at risk for suspension." Do not miss your court date in Calcasieu Parish. If you cannot make it, contact the court in advance to see if a continuance is possible.
