Pay Traffic Fines in Acadia Parish
One of the most important things to know about Acadia Parish: the Clerk of Court does NOT collect traffic fines. All fine payments go through the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department. This is different from some other parishes, so do not go to the clerk expecting to pay your ticket.
The Sheriff's Traffic Department is at the same courthouse complex. The main Sheriff's phone is (337) 788-8700. For the Traffic Department specifically, call (337) 788-8709 or (337) 788-8711. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The mailing address for payments is P.O. Box 289, Crowley, LA 70527.
You can also pay online through nCourt. The Acadia Parish portal is at the nCourt payment site. Online payment is available for many traffic citations. The FAQ on the clerk's site says: "How do I get the total cost of my traffic ticket? Contact the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department at 337-788-8700." So if you are not sure what you owe, call that number first.
If there is an outstanding warrant with a contempt fine, the situation is more involved. The clerk's FAQ states: "If a warrant is outstanding with a contempt fine, it must be paid at the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department. Once paid, the defendant will be served with a new court date." Do not ignore warrant notices. Getting them cleared out quickly keeps things from getting worse.
